Christina Aguilera reaches out to young girl after national anthem slip-up

Listen to Christina Aguilera on iHeartRadio

Going through a high-profile National Anthem performance failure is like the pop diva equivalent of going through battle—only people who have done it themselves can possibly understand or relate. Nice of Christina Aguilera, part of this esteemed fraternity herself for her Super Bowl flub a year-and-a-half back, to reach out to poor 11-year-old Harper Gruzins after her mite messy, mite out-of-tune performance before a Dallas FC soccer match a few weeks ago, which resulted in her briefly becoming an internet laughing stock.

Aguilera understands as well as anybody, and sent Gruzins a note saying the following:

Harper, you had the courage to sing in front of thousands of people and I applaud you. Keep your head up high and keep trying. You have nothing to be ashamed of.

Classy move from Xtina, and one that she probably would’ve appreciated being done for her from some of her botched-National-Anthem predecessors some 18 months ago. After all, not everyone can have Portland Trailblazers coach Mo Cheeks swoop in to save the day.
