Employees spend six seconds on average looking at resumes-- and only look at six things.  Researchers surveyed job recruiters and used eye-tracking technology to figure out what matters most on a resume.

They found recruiters spend nearly 80% of their time focusing on six different areas of a resume... your name, current title/company, previous title/company, current position start and end dates, previous position start and end dates and education.

And on average, recruiters spent six seconds looking at the six things to make the initial decision on whether to trash your resume or consider you for the position.
